Bon Jovi‘s new album Legendary – the first material recorded since Jon Bon Jovi underwent surgery to correct serious vocal problems – will drop Friday June 07, and the lead single is out now. Legendary is the band’s sixteenth studio effort, and follows 2020, which dropped four years ago.
Jon says the main sentiment on this album is joy: he had to work through a lot of dark times because of the voice issues, and realized that we don’t always take the time to appreciate the good things we have in life. Hence the first single, Legendary, which was cowritten with Billy Falcon and John Shanks, and which is a tribute to Jon’s wife, Dorothea.
The forthcoming four part documentary Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story, which lands Friday April 26, focuses on Jon’s attempts to get his voice working again. It also takes a look at the exit of lead guitarist Richie Sambora; Phil X is still handling that role on this album.
