Three Days Grace have premiered the video for Don’t Wanna Go Home Tonight, from their 2025 Alienation album.

The clip sees the band returning to their home city of Norwood Ontario for a big get together with fans at a bonfire, along with throwback video and photos of the band members growing up in Norwood.

Recently, we heard that a 74 year tradition is coming to an end, as the CBC revealed that it will no longer carry Hockey Night In Canada. This is due to a sublicensing agreement with Rogers Sportsnet expiring, and the two companies not being able to reach a new agreement, and it means that anyone wanting to watch will have to pay for it.

Regina’s Blu Beach Band, who will be at the Coda Saturday July 11, are big fans of hockey; the members often wear hockey jerseys during performances – and on their current tour, they’ve been asking fans at each stop to sign their Change.org petition which calls on the public broadcaster to bring Hockey Night In Canada back to free television. So far, they’ve collected more than ten thousand verified signatures. If you’d like to add yours, you’ll find that petition right over here.

In 1967, more than 400 million people viewed the world’s very first worldwide satellite television broadcast, Our World – as part of that, The Beatles performed the tune written by John Lennon and Paul McCartney specifically for it, All You Need Is Love.

Today is the seventeenth annual Global Beatles Day, and as part of that, the original 1967 performance is being rebroadcast at 2pm BST – 9am Pacific, if my cipherin’ is correct – on The Beatles’ YouTube channel.

Victoria’s Redbrick has a proposal for a new hotel at Pandora and Government – the location of the former Plaza Hotel, which burned down seven years ago after being empty for years.

The location was originally the site of the Westholme Hotel, which opened in 1911 – and the new one would bring that name back. Planning and design are in the early stages, and the company is looking for feedback from the public on this project. You can also sign up for updates at the Westholme Hotel website.

Eddie Vedder has shared a new single he wrote for the opening of the Obama Presidential Center.

He wrote Better Believe in conjuction with Guitars Over Guns, which is a nonprofit organization using music to support young people, pairing them up with professional musicians. Vedder gave the new song its live debut at the opening of the Obama Center in Chicago, along with some of the Guitars Over Guns students.

Friday July 10, The Rolling Stones‘ 25th album Foreign Tongues will hit the shops, and this Friday, the six-episode Foreign Tongues podcast will launch.

The podcast features chats with Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, and Ronnie Wood, and is narrated by Norah Jones. We’ll get behind the scenes commentary on the making of the album, including creative influences, studio techniques, and songwriting. As well as outtakes and never before hear new songs, there are also contributions from producer Andrew Watt,  and Steve Winwood and Robert Smith – both of whom appear on the album.

The Stones have also revealed the full version of the first single they teased (under the name The Cockroaches), Rough And Twisted.

Playing For Change is a global initiative which brings together musicians from every corner of Planet Earth – playing usually outdoors in their native countries – on cover versions of well-known songs, with the recordings then mixed into a single video. Proceeds from sales of sales of albums and merchandise benefit children’s music programs around the world. In 2019, following the 50th anniversary of The Band‘s The Weight, they produced this version of the iconic song.

To mark the ten (!) year anniversary of their final tour, The Tragically Hip will drop Live July 22 – August 20, 2016 Friday August 21, and to coincide with that, at 7pm local time, the CBC will rebroadcast A National Celebration – the band’s final show in Kingston.

Live July 22 – August 20, 2016 features tracks from the band’s cross-Canada tour – not including Victoria, which is where they launched it, at Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre. It contains 29 songs on three vinyl albums or two compact discs. Preorders are available over here.

Alanis Morissette‘s fellow Canuck Avril Lavigne dropped a cover of Alanis’ Ironic last month, part of the soundtrack for the Canadian romcom Mile End Kicks – and she stayed pretty faithful to it.

This isn’t Avril’s first time with the tune: she oughta know it, since Alanis invited her onstage last year at the Los Angeles House Of Blues to do a duet.
