Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson are back on the road with their new drummer Anika Nilles, on Rush‘s Fifty Something Tour – and the man who was behind the kit before Anika is the subject of a documentary which will drop next month.

Neil Peart: No One’s Disciple was created by Banger Films, and will air Wednesday September 23 as part of the CBC documentary series The Passionate Eye; it’ll track one of rock’s most legendary drummers through archival footage, intimate reflections, and extraordinary live performances, according to a media release.

Did you look at that image above and think, “Hey, hold up – that’s not Neil”? That’s because it’s actually Red Hot Chili Peppers‘ Chad Smith yukking it up with Geddy and Alex.

Colin James will be in Victoria in September for a discussion, Q&A session, and signing of his memoir Playing The Changes, which is about growing up in Saskatchewan on the way to becoming one of Canada’s premier blues artists.

Last month, Jack White pulled pulled the curtain back on his upcoming solo album Frozen Charlotte; the album includes G.O.D. And The Broken Ribs and Derecho Demonico, the new tracks which he dropped earlier this year and performed on Saturday Night Live. The latest single is Dollar Bill, which he’s been playing live lately.

Today, U2 unveiled a track from their yet-to-be announced new album, which will be their first new music in nine years.

Street Of Dreams is the first tune to be taken from the album, which is due later this year. The music video was shot in Mexico City in May, where the band also attended the 2026 Street Child World Cup Finals Tournament at Parque Ecológico Lago de Texcoco. The video shoot near Plaza Santo Domingo drew a huge crowd of fans despite inclement weather, with thunder and rain unexpectedly causing a generator to crash and a local family welcoming the four band members into their apartment to film on the balcony.

Three Days Grace have premiered the video for Don’t Wanna Go Home Tonight, from their 2025 Alienation album.

The clip sees the band returning to their home city of Norwood Ontario for a big get together with fans at a bonfire, along with throwback video and photos of the band members growing up in Norwood.

Recently, we heard that a 74 year tradition is coming to an end, as the CBC revealed that it will no longer carry Hockey Night In Canada. This is due to a sublicensing agreement with Rogers Sportsnet expiring, and the two companies not being able to reach a new agreement, and it means that anyone wanting to watch will have to pay for it.

Regina’s Blu Beach Band, who will be at the Coda Saturday July 11, are big fans of hockey; the members often wear hockey jerseys during performances – and on their current tour, they’ve been asking fans at each stop to sign their Change.org petition which calls on the public broadcaster to bring Hockey Night In Canada back to free television. So far, they’ve collected more than ten thousand verified signatures. If you’d like to add yours, you’ll find that petition right over here.

In 1967, more than 400 million people viewed the world’s very first worldwide satellite television broadcast, Our World – as part of that, The Beatles performed the tune written by John Lennon and Paul McCartney specifically for it, All You Need Is Love.

Today is the seventeenth annual Global Beatles Day, and as part of that, the original 1967 performance is being rebroadcast at 2pm BST – 9am Pacific, if my cipherin’ is correct – on The Beatles’ YouTube channel.

Victoria’s Redbrick has a proposal for a new hotel at Pandora and Government – the location of the former Plaza Hotel, which burned down seven years ago after being empty for years.

The location was originally the site of the Westholme Hotel, which opened in 1911 – and the new one would bring that name back. Planning and design are in the early stages, and the company is looking for feedback from the public on this project. You can also sign up for updates at the Westholme Hotel website.
