Going forward, Queen cofounding axeman Brian May will be known as Sir Brian May, thank you very much.
May got the sword tap on the shoulder today from King Charles at Buckingham Palace, for his services to music and charity. When he learned last year that he’d be getting the honor, he said that he was approaching knighthood as “a kind of challenge” (as opposed to a kind of magic), saying, “I think that’s the way I regard it, to do good in the world and do better than I’ve done before.”

As well as being a noted guitar slinger, sports bra designer, and astrophysicist, May is also a keen lover of our fellow animals. He says that he’s “probably most proud of the tiny things that we have achieved for animals. It’s an ongoing thing, and I’m hoping the knighthood will help.”
