The ten-episode miniseries Daisy Jones & The Six hits Amazon Prime today – and when you find Fleetwood Mac coming to mind while you watch it, that’s no accident.
The series is based on the New York Times bestseller from Taylor Jenkins Reid, who has confirmed that The Macs were a very big inspiration for the novel. She says she specifically wanted to document the dynamic between Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham in her two lead characters, Daisy Jones (played by Elvis‘ granddaughter Riley Keough) and Billy Dunne (Sam Claflin).
In the 70s, Daisy is a rocker at heart who was raised by wealthy and distracted Hollywood Hills parents. She gets hooked on music when she meets musician Simone Jackson after sneaking into a rock show, and inspired by the disco star, begins to write her own music and hits it big as a solo artist. Along comes producer Teddy Price, who hooks her up with a blues-rock band, The Six. She and Billy clash at the beginning, but chemistry sets in and they become a powerhouse team. Unfortunately Daisy’s hotheadedness and struggles with booze and drugs eventually cause rifts in the band.
Sounds familiar, yeah?
Going one step further for authenticity, the cast actually recorded a soundtrack album, Aurora, which also dropped today – and it’s already number one on iTunes USA. That did not escape the attention of executive producer Reese Witherspoon.
WOW!! Look what YOU did??! ❤️
