A tribute album for late Pogues frontman Shane MacGowan, who passed away late in 2023, is due to drop Friday November 13 on vinyl and digital ; 20th Century Paddy – The Songs Of Shane MacGowan is full of Pogues cover songs by Johnny Depp, The Libertines, Tom Waits, David Gray, Kate Moss, and many others. The first single to drop is Bruce Springsteen‘s take on the Pogues hit A Rainy Night In Soho.
A limited edition deluxe bookpack will also be offered, with three LPs, two CDs, and a book of memorabilia and liner notes. Fifty percent of artist royalties from the project will be donated to an organization of which MacGowan was a longtime supporter: Dublin Simon Community provides lifesaving housing and healthcare for those experiencing homelessness.
