Zydeco pioneer Clifton Chenier, who passed away in 1987, could have been 100 years old today – and to mark that centenary, Smithsonian Folkways have revealed a tribute album full of Chenier tunes by a Who’s Who of artists: John Hiatt, Lucinda Williams, Steve Earle, Jimmy Vaughan, and many others – including The Rolling Stones. On their cover of Chenier’s signature song Zydeco Sont Pas Salés, Mick Jagger sings in French.
In other Rolling Stones news, Mick was recently seen in London with Hackney Diamonds producer Andrew Watt, and a video of Mick belting out a new tune at a London studio is ramping up speculation about another new album.
