David Gilmour‘s Luck And Strange album, which is his first collection of new material in nine years, will drop Friday September 06; the first single is The Piper’s Call. No word if that piper is at the gates of dawn, but I’ll launch an investigation.
Luck And Strange was recorded over five months in Brighton and London, with the majority of the lyrics composed by David’s wife, Polly Samson, who has been his musical collaborator for the past thirty years. As was the case with The Rolling Stones‘ Hackney Diamonds album, which included drum tracks from the late Charlie Watts, Luck And Strange includes keyboard work from the late Richard Wright, recorded during a 2007 jam in a barn at David’s house.
Wesley The Doggo appears to approve of what he hears so far. The full video for The Piper’s Call is below the teaser.
