This summer, Deep Purple will drop their new album, somewhat mysteriously titled =1.
This is the first full length effort since 2021’s covers album, Turning To Crime. It’s also the first album of original tunes since Whoosh!, which dropped four years ago. Speculation about a new album kicked in recently after equations and images of multiverses began showing up in Paris, Berlin, and London.
A media release says that the title of the album is a reference to the idea that even as the world gets more and more complex, eventually it all comes back to a single truth: everything equals one. =1 will drop Friday July 19; we’ll get the first single on Tuesday.
