The Pogues‘ drunk tank Christmas classic Fairytale Of New York – often tagged as the greatest Christmas song of all time – is being reissued on seven inch vinyl, with proceeds going to one of the late Shane MacGowan‘s favorite charities.
About six pounds from each sale will be donated to the Dublin Simon Community, an organization with a mission to end and prevent homelessness. MacGowan often performed at the charity’s annual Christmas Eve Busk; as a matter of fact, his final public appearance before his death was at that event, in 2021.
MacGowan died of complications from pneumonia Thursday November 30. He was 65.
