The new Hackney Diamonds album – the first from the Rolling Stones in about eighteen years – will not be the last one, according to Keith Richards.
Says Keef: “There’s plenty more stuff left over from ‘Hackney Diamonds’ to work on. There’ll always be another one until we drop. We can put our feet up for a little bit, but you know. You’re into this thing all the way. This is what we do. We’ve gotta see this Rolling Stones through.”
As well, Richards has no plans to quietly into that good night anytime soon: “It keeps me on my toes and keeps my fingers moving. And I’m still finding different ways of playing things. Even though you’re getting to be around 80, believe me, it don’t stop.”
Hackney Diamonds reached the number one spot on the UK charts, and number two on the Billboard Top Rock chart when it dropped. Guests include Lady Gaga, Stevie Wonder, Elton John, and, a track called Bite My Head Off, Paul McCartney – and according to Ronnie Wood, there’s a second song on which McCartney plays — which we haven’t heard yet, but will at some point. He says the band recorded 23 tracks for Hackney Diamonds, and 12 of them made it onto the record, so there’s plenty of material left in the bank.
