Despite being in the midst of recovering from surgery, Larry Mullen Jr. “played up a storm” while U2 were in the studio recording their new single Atomic City, according to the band.
The tune is their first new music in two years, and dropped today – mere hours ahead of the beginning of their residency at the new MSG Sphere in Las Vegas. Larry Mullen Jr. will not be manning the drumkit: he’s recovering from surgery, so Krezip drumsmasher Bram van den Berg is filling in. Despite that, the bandmembers say that Mullen Jr. “gave it all” when they were at Sound City in Los Angeles recording the new single – and that possibly hints that he could be returning to play live sooner rather than later.
