He went from “welding my life away”, as he says, in Otsego Michigan – population about four thousand – to being signed by Elektra Records, opening for ZZ Top and Kaleo, among others, and recording his much-buzzed-about debut album Factories, Farms & Amphetamines with Dave Cobb, who’s worked with the likes of Chris Stapleton, John Prine, Brandi Carlile, Jason Isbell and Sturgill Simpson.
