All the transformations and developments of the past have happened to children and youth as well as to adults. Join UVic’s Dr. Georgia Sitara in a whirlwind tour of pivotal moments in the last 150 years of Canadian history as they changed the lives of the young.
Slowly over the course of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, children and youth went from being workers and contributors within a family economy to being students. Childhood became characterized as a time of innocence and dependence. How does the inclusion of children and youth change how we understand history? This illustrated lecture will be held at Ross Bay Villa Historic House Museum at 7:30pm on February 19th.
Dr Georgia Sitara is an award-winning professor of History and Gender Studies at the University of Victoria.
Tickets must be booked in advance online.
