The people at the BC Aviation Museum tell us that the final flight of the legendary Hawaii Martin Mars water bomber will be happening this Sunday, as it arrives at its final home as part of the museum’s BC Wildfire Aviation exhibit.
The Mars will be accompanied by all nine Snowbirds, and should be landing between 6pm and 630pm at Pat Bay, in front of the Institute of Ocean Sciences and Coast Guard base, following its flight down the east coast of the island. It can be tracked via Flightradar24 via its registration code CFLYL, and the museum’s Facebook page will have live flight info as well.
On Wednesday, the Mars will be taken out of the water and prepped for transport. Sometime during the week of the 19th, she’ll travel through the airport and over to her outside display location at the museum. Then, sometime next month, we’ll be able to take a look inside and sit in the pilot’s seat.
You’ll find lots more information on the BC Aviation Museum web page.
