George Thorogood and the Destroyers have axed several performances on their 50th anniversary tour, as Thorogood contends with an undisclosed “very serious medical condition.”
A post on the band’s Facebook page reads: “With great sadness, we must announce the cancellation of our Canadian and U.S. tour dates from April 27, 2023, through May 21, 2023. George has been diagnosed with a very serious medical condition that will require immediate surgery and quite a few weeks of recuperation and healing.”
Eighteen shows have been canceled, including two shows at the Commodore in Vancouver, Thursday and Friday April 27 and 28. Assuming all goes well, he may resume rocking in Jefferson Wisconsin Friday July 14. The Facebook note concludes with “You, our fans, mean the world to us, and we know this news is not what you wanted to hear, but rest assured George Thorogood and the Destroyers will be back. We’ll keep you updated as we know more.”
