Leave it to Foo Fighters frontguy Dave Grohl to be one of the brightest spots in the sea of drek that Twitter has become. The Foo Man volunteered at a Los Angeles homeless shelter during California’s big storm last week, serving up barbecue for hundreds of people.
Says Hope The Misson director of development Grace Anchet: “He provided the food and the time and got caught cooking over 24 hours in the middle of the storm last week.” Grohl showed up at about 3pm 3 p.m. last Thursday and began preparing ribs, pork butt, and brisket in the shelter kitchen. “The meat didn’t go into the smoker until midnight that night because he’s like, ‘Oh, it has to season, and it has to do this,’” Ancheta says. “He’s definitely a craftsman when it comes to that, and then he spent the night.”

The feast was ready at about 3pm the next day, at which point Grohl helped served it to about 450 people, and then hung out to chat and take photos with fans. “He wanted no glory for it,” Ancheta says.. “He was like, ‘I just want to do this for you guys and give back in that way.’”
