Residents in Cowichan now have the chance to share their thoughts on the world’s biggest hockey stick.
The iconic stick is in trouble – both with its condition and its hold on the record. A city near Chicago has proposed building an even bigger hockey stick, but that might not even matter much, as the one at Cowichan Community Centre is deteriorating and will require replacement or removal in the near future. The District has a survey out for residents now, as a way to gauge the importance of both replacement and holding the record. The survey says, “depending on which approach is selected as an outcome of this survey, it is anticipated that the cost to replace the stick will be between 1 million and 3 million dollars.”
