One of the men guilty of killing a Metchosin man in 2019 has just received his sentence.
Zachary Armitage has been sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole for 25 years in the killing of Martin Payne in Metchosin, shortly after escaping from William Head Institution with another inmate. Partway through his trial alongside co-accused James Lee Busch, Armitage pleaded guilty to first-degree murder and disappeared from the trial. Busch, who was found guilty at trial, received the same sentence last month.
