The federal government is investing $12.6 million for Ocean research at the University of Victoria.
The money is being invested over the next four years for the Ocean’s Network Canada program.
The ocean climate building itself cost just under $10 million renovate and become a state-of-the-art research centre.
Minister of Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Jonathan Wilkinson was on hand at the new renovated Queenswood location on Arbutus Street.
“It’s going to be a world leading centre for research that’s going to better help us manage human activity going forward as well as other marine activity.”
