Saanich is likely going to become the next municipality in Greater Victoria to ban single-use plastic bags.
The proposed bylaw is expected to go to first and second reading at a council meeting on Monday night.
According to a report from city staff, the rules would directly mirror Victoria’s bylaw. It would include minimum charges for paper and reusable bags at 15 cents and $1.
Victoria banned single-use plastic bags last summer and now Saanich would be the second in the region.
