“Jesus Lives!” In ‘Big Lebowski’ Sequel
Break out your purple bowling jumpsuit, because The Jesus is back.
John Turturro is bringing back his Jesus Quintana character from 1998’s The Big Lebowski. Quintana is a loud-mouth opponent of the bowling league team that includes the characters played by Jeff Bridges, John Goodman and Steve Buscemi. Quintana spoke with a thick accent, danced backwards and referred to himself as “the Jesus.”
Turturro is directing, starring and wrote the screenplay, inspired by a 1974 French film, Going Places. The sequel began shooting this past summer.
Turturro’s version follows a trio of misfits who make enemies with a gun-toting hairdresser.
No word if ‘The Dude’ will have a part in this sequel.
