A logger discovers a corpse on the bank of a river outside the town of Twin Peaks, Washington. When the sheriff arrives to investigate, the body is identified as homecoming queen Laura Palmer.
Twin Peaks was one of the top-rated shows of the early 1990s. The quirky two season show was created by David Lynch and has had a cult following ever since. Ratings tanked after the first widely watched season, and in Season 2, ABC Television insisted that the identity of Laura’s murderer be revealed midway through the second season. It wasn’t enough to save the series.
A movie in 1992, Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me was a prequel, or sequel depending on how you viewed the movie.
In 2014, it was announced that David Lynch was bringing back Twin Peaks. Now complete and to air next year, the limited series is written and directed by Lynch, with many original cast members including Kyle MacLachlan returning.
