When Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers assembled the final track sequence for the Wildflowers album in 1994, a lot of songs were left over — and some of those are about to see the light of day on the new collection, Wildflowers: All The Rest.
The first tune, Somewhere Under Heaven, is streaming on Spotify and can be downloaded from the iTunes Store; as well, according to a scribble on Petty’s website, Somewhere Under Heaven will play under the closing credits for the Entourage film, which opens today. The flick will also contain a 40 second promo for the new album.
Petty is putting his pre-Heartbreakers band Mudcrutch back on the rails shortly. Sessions for the followup to their 2008 self-titled debut are scheduled to begin in August, with a tour possible later.
Meanwhile, after their substantial Hypnotic Eye tour, the Heartbreakers are on a bit of a break. Says Campbell, “It’s been wonderful. That was a pretty long tour, and now we’re just leading our lives and being normal. When we’re finished with the next Mudcrutch record, we’ll start looking at the next horizon for the Heartbreakers.”
