As fans mourn the loss of rocker Scott Weiland, and before the excess and addiction, his high school annual photos show a typical teenager in Southern California; an athlete who also sang in the school choir.
Weiland was a student at Edison High School in nearby Huntington Beach. He graduated from high school in 1986.
As you can see, Weiland was a fresh-faced kid. His yearbook shows he played football and volleyball, wrestled, sang in two choirs and was a homecoming King nominee. He was also apparently known by the nickname “Wyner.”
The former Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver singer was buried on Dec. 10 at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Los Angeles. Weiland was found dead on his tour bus on December 3, 2015 in Bloomington, Minnesota before he and his band The Wildabouts were scheduled to go on stage. Police searched Weiland’s bus and found cocaine and other drugs in the bedroom where Weiland was discovered dead. He was 48.
