Tomorrow is Black Friday in the United States Of America — the traditional start of the Christmas shopping season — and The Great White North has also glommed onto it in recent years. Is it called Black Friday because of its origins in Philadelphia, describing the mind-boggling pedestrian and vehicular traffic which occurred on the day after Thanksgiving? Or is it because retailers traditionally operated at a financial loss (“in the red”) from January through November, and that day was the point at which they began to turn a profit, or became “in the black”?
I dunno. But in any case, that’s what today’s Rockline Theme Thursday is all about: songs which reference “black” in their titles.
If there’s a particular song you’d like me to play for you, send me an e-mail request, or join me at noon oh five and call me at 250 475 100.3 as we black out, on The Q’s Rockline Theme Thursday.
