Signe Anderson, original vocalist for Jefferson Airplane died January 28th. She was 74. No word on cause of death.
Anderson passed away on the same day as Jefferson Airplane co-founder and guitarist Paul Kantner who died from of multiple organ failure. He was also 74.
Anderson sang on the band’s 1966 debut album, Jefferson Airplane Takes Off. She left Jefferson Airplane soon after and was replaced by Grace Slick.
Jefferson Airplane co-founder Marty Balin remembered his former band mate on Facebook. “One sweet Lady has passed on,” Balin wrote of Anderson. “I imagine that she and Paul woke up in heaven and said ‘Hey what are you doing here? Let’s start a band’ and no sooner then said [late drummer Spencer Dryden] was there joining in! Heartfelt thoughts to all their family and loved ones.”
