Hollywood is at it again. They’re remaking one of your favourite movies of all-time. Go ahead, see it and let us know if it lives up to the original version.

Reboots and remakes are nothing new. It’s obviously money in the bank for movie companies. But let’s be honest, many of us casting hate on a new version will go see it when it comes out in theatres. Why Hollywood continues to crank out remakes and sequels instead of doing something new and original comes down to the bottom line: $$$.

Here’s a list of the Hollywood reboots and remakes slated for production. Run and hide if you can.

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (1988)

Starring: Steve Martin and Michael Caine

Starring: Rebel Wilson
Steve Martin and Michael Caine teamed up in the original, which follows two con men trying to swindle a heiress out of her money. The updated remake brings con artistry to the 21st century with two female scam artists (one rough around the edges and the other high class) competing to swindle a naive tech prodigy out of his fortune. By the way, Wilson is also attached to star in a remake of the Goldie Hawn movie Private Benjamin (1980)

Splash (1984

Starring: Tom Hanks and Daryl Hannah

Director: Ron Howard
Starring: Channing Tatum and Jillian Bell
Tatum will assume Hannah’s role as the enchanting mermaid (“Merman”), while Jillian Bell takes on Hanks’s role of the human.

Wargames (1983)

Starring: Matthew Broderick and Ally Sheedy

Starring: TBA
The filmmaker invloved with the project has said, “If there was ever a movie primed to say something new and bold and relevant for our time, it’s WarGames. So that’s why I see the potential in remaking the movie.”

Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure (1989)

Starring: Keanu Reeves, Alex Winter

Starring: Keanu Reeves, Alex Winter
It’s been described as a re-make, a sequel, and a revisitation of Bill and Ted in their modern lives. Original stars Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter are approaching 50 years old. Maybe it’s just us, but a Bill and Ted in midlife-crisis movie doesn’t sound much like a goofball comedy. Dude!!
