For the past couple of days, there’s been rampant speculation that Bon Jovi would be playing in Vancouver’s Stanley Park in August — and that’s now as good as confirmed, according to VancityBuzz. There’s a caveat, though.
A New York outfit called Runaway Tours has this little item regarding what looks to be a pretty comprehensive — and not inexpensive — concert package on their website:
Note the Kings Of Suburbia: that’s Jon’s side gig, and while they do deliver tunes normally associated with Jon’s eponymous band, a recent setlist also contained tracks by The Rolling Stones, Leonard Cohen, The Byrds, The J. Geils Band, Roy Orbison, The Isley Brothers and many others.
Word is that we should expect an official announcement from Vancouver’s Paper Rain Productions at a media conference tomorrow, during which we’ll presumably get ticket details. The Stanley Park Brockton Point concert is being promoted under the banner An Urban Forest Concert: An Evening With A Rock Legend.
*UPDATE 061215* The show is confirmed for Saturday August 22; tickets will go on sale Saturday June 20, ranging from $39.95 to $595.00 for VIP access. There will be 11000 seats, with a further 3000 spots on a grass berm. The set should run from 900pm til 1030pm, with 10 to 15 minutes available for an encore. Regulations stipulate an 1100pm shutdown.
Love, Dr. Scott James
