Album number seven from Coldplay, titled A Head Full Of Dreams, will arrive Friday December 04 — and it could be their last, with frontguy Chris Martin describing it as “the completion of something.”
Last year’s Ghost Stories was the fourth best selling record in the world, at 3.7 million units. Eschewing a tour, the band went back into the studio right after its release to record A Head Full Of Dreams, which Martin refers to as “a more colorful, more joyful sort of thing. It’s the sound of us being free and happy and very grateful to be in our group.”
The album was recorded in Los Angeles, Malibu and London, and includes guest appearances from Beyoncé, Noel Gallagher and Tove Lo. The band are planning to tour behind it early next year.
In a Beeb interview last year, Martin hinted that the new album could be the last we’ll hear from Coldplay. “It’s our seventh thing, and the way we look at it, it’s like the last Harry Potter book or something like that,” he said. “Not to say that there might not be another thing one day, but this is the completion of something. I have to think of it as the final thing we’re doing. Otherwise we wouldn’t put everything into it.”
