It’s most likely a good thing the house isn’t on the market — we probably couldn’t afford it. Bon Jovi are getting ready for the release of their new album This House Is Not For Sale, debuting the disc’s first single and giving us the official release date.
The title track is the first one out of the gate ahead of the album, which lands Friday October 21. This will be the band’s first new music since What About Now three years ago, and their first without Richie Sambora, who exited stage left in 2013. Former Triumph guitarist Phil X plays the part of Sambora on this one, with knob-twiddling again courtesy of John Shanks — he’s been on the production board since 2005’s Have A Nice Day.
Jon Bon Jovi sees this one as an attempt to get back to the band’s roots: “We were recording at different times and different rooms in the studio. That’s not happening anymore,” he said. “We went back to the place where we cut ‘Runaway’ in 1982 – where I used to sweep the floor and fetch coffee.”
