The Q's Late Shift (midnight-5:30 or 6:00 am)

Graham is just a small town boy, born and raised in mid-B.C. He took the mid-night train going anywhere . . . and ended up making sweet love to The Q's Late Shift!

When his 4th grade teacher told him he would never amount to anything, he picked up his first microphone.

Livin' on a prayer that is The Q's Late Shift, he has learned a few things:

- Rules where made to be broken
- There is no such thing as too much AC/DC
- Coffee is the best thing ever
- Island life is the best life around

Graham digs rugby, beer, fishing and Mickey Thompson tires but, by far, his favorite thing is talking non-nonsensical topics with you at 3:27 am.

One can't really help but make this comparison when it comes to Queen right now.

Guitarist Brian May has said he is sure that the band's live plans with American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert would get Freddie Mercury's seal of approval.

The band will headline this summer's Sonisphere festival with Lambert, topping a bill that includes Kiss, Faith No More, Evanescence, Incubus, The Darkness, Mastodon and Refused.

Speaking about the band's plan for the set and how he felt it would be received by the group's fans, May said: "Judging by my incoming mail, this decision will make a lot of people very happy. It's a worthy challenge for us, and I'm sure Adam would meet with Freddie's approval! And what better place to revisit, and walk those emotional paths than Knebworth? It will be a rush."

Lambert himself also spoke about the show and said he hoped to "pay respects to Freddie's memory" as well as achieving a huge personal milestone.

He said of this: "I'm completely in awe of the Queen phenomenon. The thought of sharing the stage for a full set is so beautifully surreal. I'm honored to be able to pay my respects to Freddie's memory. He's a personal hero of mine and I am deeply grateful for the chance to sing such powerful music for fans of this legendary band. I know the evening will be a huge milestone for me, and with the support of Brian, Roger and the rest of the band I know magic will be on display."

This weekend: The Q's Legends Of Rock Weekend featuring Deep Purple!

Listen for Deep Purple trivia throughout the weekend, answer correctly and you'll win a Deep Purple CD or DVD and a pair of tickets to see Deep Purple in Victoria on February 25!

December 4th 1971 Deep Purple had set up camp in Montreux, Switzerland to record an album using a mobile recording studio (rented from the Rolling Stones and known as the Rolling Stones Mobile Studio—referred to as the "Rolling truck Stones thing" and "the mobile" in the song lyrics) at the entertainment complex that was part of the Montreux Casino (referred to as "the gambling house" in the song lyric). On the eve of the recording session a Frank Zappa and The Mothers of Invention concert was held in the casino's theater. In the middle of Don Preston's synthesizer solo on "King Kong", the place suddenly caught fire when somebody in the audience fired a flare gun into the rattan covered ceiling, as mentioned in the "some stupid with a flare gun" line. The resulting fire destroyed the entire casino complex, along with all the Mothers' equipment. The "smoke on the water" that became the title of the song (credited to bass guitarist Roger Glover, who related how the title occurred to him when he suddenly woke from a dream a few days later)

Yikes!!!

In 1989, Ritchie Blackmore and Ian Gillan released a version of Smoke on the Water with Robert Plant, Brian May, and Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden. The release was for project "Rock Aid Armenia," with proceeds going to victims of a Armenian earthquake.

Hello fellow Maiden fans,

Today is a good day. I get to tell you that Iron Maiden will be in Van soon.

The Maiden England World Tour, will kick off in Charlotte, NC, U.S.A. on June 21, and finishing in Houston, TX, on Aug 18.

The Maiden England World Tour will closely mirror, in terms of production and content, the original 1988 concert video of the same name, shot on the “Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son Tour”.

According to lead singer Bruce Dickinson: “We have great fun playing the History of Maiden Tours because it gives us an opportunity between new albums to go out and play songs from our earlier catalog,”

“It’s always fantastic seeing the crowd reaction from a new generation of fans who have never experienced some of these tracks performed live before, and of course we know our longstanding fans will enjoy seeing the original Seventh Son Tour re-visited – with many other surprises!”

The tour swings through Rodgers Arena Sunday July 29th. Tickets on sale for most of the dates on the tour March 2nd.

Here is a link to the Maiden tour page with the details.

100.3 The Q is The Island's Rock. We don't take ourselves too seriously, and aren't a "boys club" like some stations. Men and women who love rock enjoy Q music and find our mediocre entertainment mostly passable.

The Q mixes classics from artists like Aerosmith, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin and The Rolling Stones with newer rock from the likes of U2, the Foo Fighters and the Dave Matthews Band.
