The new documentary Automatic Unearthed tells the story how R.E.M.’s Automatic For The People was made. The band’s landmark album is turning 25 years-old and will have a box set reissue.
A highlight for Michael Stipe and the band was having Led Zeppelin’s John Paul Jones writing string arrangements for four of the songs. Zep’s bassist wrote arrangements for “Drive,” “Everybody Hurts,” “The Sidewinder Sleeps Tonight” and “Nightswimming.”
Automatic Unearthed premieres on YouTube on Friday Dec. 8.
