A new clinic in Langford allows people struggling with addiction to get help closer to home, rather than making the trip to downtown Victoria.
The Westshore AIDS Vancouver Island Health Centre (AVI) opened in Langford on October 10 in a plaza on Jacklin Road. So far it’s been serving roughly 40 patients and is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Operating hours may be expanded some time in the future.
AIDS Vancouver Island found that 40 per cent of people using its downtown clinic for opioid replacement therapy were travelling from the Westshore.
In a recent story by the Times Colonist, AIDS Vancouver Island is reportedly asking Island Health for funding to add a social worker and part-time nurse to the new Westshore clinic.
Westshore AVI Health Centre is hosting an open house on December 12, 3-6pm at 111 – 2787 Jacklin Road.
