The Easter Seals Camp program for disabled children in Shawnigan Lake has been suspended.
The BC Lions Society says due to rising costs and a lack of donations they won’t be able to offer the camps for the summer of 2018.
“While we have had many successes as a Society, over the past ten years the charitable landscape has changed considerably and our fundraising efforts have not been able to keep up with the rising costs,” said CEO Charlene Krepiakevich in a letter to parents.
Campers are being directed to apply at Camp Winfield near Kelowna instead with the Squamish camp also suspended.
The Society says they are taking a hard look at the way they use their camps in the future.
