Well, that was close. For a while there, it looked as if that story about Kid Rock running for the United States senate was full of truthiness. However, it turns out that those who were skeptical were on the right train: in an expletive-laden (of course) chinwag the other day with Howard Stern, he admitted that it was all a big stunt to build awareness and flog merchandise for his new album, Sweet Southern Sugar, scheduled for release Friday November 03.
A media release indicates that Sweet Southern Sugar (What? A euphemism? From Kid Rock? Get OUT [shove]) is the first album recorded by Mr. Rock in Nashville, and contains selections in the country, classic rock and — of course — rap genres. It will be accompanied by a North American tour, dubbed in the usual reserved fashion The Greatest Show On Earth Tour 2018; so far the schedule shows a solitary Canadian gig, in Toronto Friday February 16.
Here’s the track after which the tour is named (contains NSFW language, partial nudity, possible misogyny, all kinds of other things that will probably get peoples’ tonsils in an uproar).
