Have you ever listened to one of Elton John‘s 1970s hits, recorded before music videos became ubiquitous, and had a video for it play inside your head? Here’s your chance to bring that video to life, and perhaps receive some recognition and cash.
Elton announced today that as part of the celebrations surrounding the 50th anniversary of his songwriting partnership with Bernie Taupin, he’s launched a competition in conjunction with YouTube for video creators to make music videos for Rocket Man, Tiny Dancer and Bennie And The Jets.
Entries for Elton John: The Cut will be accepted beginning Monday January 09, and the deadline is Monday January 23. Entrants must be at least 16, and the winners will be chosen by Elton, Bernie, a panel of YouTube creators and industry representatives. Their music videos will premiere next summer, and each winner will receive $US10,000 from YouTube. Pulse Films will assist video creators with production.
