In an effort to better protect our natural resources, the BCWF launched an app for iPhone users (android app is in the works) to report illegal happenings such as poaching, dumping, water pollution, etc.
If the report leads to a conviction the reporter could get a $2000 reward.
The app allows users to take a time-stamped picture or video of the violation and submit it to the Conservation Officer Service, Department of Fisheries and Oceans, and other enforcement agencies. They investigate it before making it public on the website.
Here’s some in-depth details via the Vancouver Sun.
