“I’m happy and excited to announce that I am recording a new album”, says Etheridge. “But I want to share this music with you right now, which is why I’ve invited you here – so you can experience the music while it’s being created. I can’t wait for you to hear the new music.”
Melissa Etheridge is treating some era-defining treasures of modern music to her powerful and passionate voice. Friday October 07, Stax Records will release MEmphis (sic) Rock And Soul — a collection of nuggets from the expansive Stax catalog like The Staple Singers‘ Respect Yourself, Otis Redding‘s I’ve Been Loving You Too Long (To Stop Now), Sam And Dave’s Hold On, I’m Coming and Albert King‘s Born Under A Bad Sign. For this project, Etheridge and Stax teamed up with direct-to-fan platform PledgeMusic.
Those who preorder MEmphis Rock And Soul will receive the AccessPass, which will give them instant access to exclusive updates and content. As well, fans will have the opportunity to pledge on limited-issue items like CDs and vinyl, signed CDs and vinyl, specially assembled bundles, T-shirts, handwritten lyric sheets, a one-on-one guitar lesson or songwriting lesson with Melissa in Los Angeles, a signed guitar and more.
