Steven Tyler is getting stressed out. He’s mightily concerned about Joe Perry‘s health, and despite several attempts to do so, he’s had no luck getting in touch with his Aerosmith bandmate, who gave us all a scare when he collapsed during a gig with The Hollywood Vampires on Sunday. Doctors suspect that he may have suffered cardiac arrest; Tom Hamilton says he is now “doing better than we all first feared”.
Meanwhile, speaking to Billboard, Tyler said, “It’s starting to scare me a little bit. I know my brother. He’s just about the only other guy that’s as passionate about his art as I am. He’s always asking me to do three, four [Aerosmith] shows in a row, and I can’t. I’ll blow my voice out. I know how to maintain my career, my health and Joe’s passionate. I don’t think he knows how to. I think he’s out there and someone’s overbooking him.”
Perry was on show number eight over the course of ten days when he collapsed at the Coney Island Amphitheater. It was also his fourth show in four days with The Hollywood Vampires, who also count Alice Cooper and Johnny Depp among their members.
Perry’s Twitter has maintained radio silence, and not much information has emerged from the hospital. A spokesperson said Perry was “stable and resting.” The Hollywood Vampires have resumed their tour without Perry, but say that he is expected to rejoin them at some point.
“I want Joe to live”, said Tyler. “I’m really concerned and worried right now that I’m not getting any news. I’m a little bummed out, and that scares me. I don’t know whether it’s heat prostration or whether he’s been working himself too hard or getting off on wrong things passionately. I don’t know what it is, but I know that nobody’s talking to me. I can only tell you that Joe’s my brother and I love him so much.”
