When Ron Howard was still saying “gosh” a lot as Opie Taylor on the Andy Griffith Show in the early 60s, The Beatles were over there in their secret underground Abbey Road lair, preparing to take over the
world entire known universe. Subsequently, he grew up with their music, and although The Beatles have already been examined every which way using fine tooth combs and electron microscopes, apparently he has some tidbits under his hat with which we’re not familiar yet — if his forthcoming documentary’s tagline is accurate: “The Band You Know. The Story You Don’t.”
The Apollo 13 and Willow director chronicles the beginnings of Beatlemania in Eight Days A Week — The Touring Years, which was produced in cooperation with Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, along with Yoko Ono and Olivia Harrison. Catch it in theaters Friday September 16, and streaming on Hulu beginning one day later.
